Englishman Wheldon had gone almost three months without a win |
Britain's Dan Wheldon won the Indy 225 at Pikes Peak on Sunday, his fifth triumph of the year but his first success since the Indianapolis 500. The victory stretches his lead in the Indy Racing League standings to 100 points with only four races remaining on the 17-event schedule.
Englishman Wheldon, 27, said: "I've been frustrated for a while now. To deliver this win, it's pretty special.
"This is the kind of race that can win or lose you a championship."
