France's Stephane Peterhansel was penalised five minutes after his team-mate pushed his car during Monday's stage but hung on to his overall lead. Peterhansel's Mitsubishi team-mate Hiroshi Masuoka was declared the winner of the fifth stage and is now just one minute 12 seconds behind overall.
Peterhansel was assisted by Andrea Meyer 300m from the finish line after hitting gearbox problems.
Britain's Colin McRae fell to eighth after a penalty for speeding.
In the motorbike event, leader Esteve Pujol of Spain increased his lead, coming in 16 seconds ahead of fellow Spaniard Nani Roma. Italy's Fabrizio Meoni made it a clean sweep for KTM, finishing 22 seconds behind the leader.
