Highlights - Men's world modern pentathlon

Hungary's Adam Marosi moved up from fourth place in the final event to win the world modern pentathlon title at London's Crystal Palace.

Silver went to Czech David Svoboda in a repeat of his finish at last year's Worlds, with Dmytro Kirpulyanskyy of the Ukraine taking bronze.

Marosi said: "It's amazing. It was my dream to be the world champion."

Nick Woodbridge was Britain's best finisher, 13th in the men's final, with team-mate Sam Weale coming 29th.

Hungary also won the team gold from the Czech Republic, with Lithuania taking silver and Lithuania bronze. The British team finished seventh.

Woodbridge said: "This atmosphere today and feeling I've had is like what I got at the Olympics - it's great.

"This experience massively helps with preparation for London 2012.

"When people say, 'How do you feel about competing in front of a home crowd in London?', I wasn't really convinced, but after coming here and experiencing a home crown this size, London 2012 is going to be massive!"

The home squad's biggest chances were always expected to come from their women, whose final takes place on Sunday.

In a new format this year, modern pentathlon takes place in a single day, with fencing, swimming and show jumping followed by a combined run-and-shoot event.

Defending champion Ilia Frolov from Russia saw his challenge fade he struggled in the show jumping, where riders draw lots for horses.

He lost 396 points riding Archie, a seven-year-old grey gelding, dropping down the field from second to 22nd.
