Jones claims second gold in relay
Marion Jones
Jones won her fifth World Championship gold
Marion Jones won her second gold medal of the World Championships as the US women cruised to victory in the 4x100m relay at Edmonton.

Jones, who won the individual 200m and silver in the 100m, claimed another gold as the US quartet came home in 41.71 seconds.

Germany were second in 42.32 and France took the bronze medal in 42.39 to earn their first medal of the championships.

Nobody could get us today - we were in control throughout the race

Jones's win means she joins compatriot Gail Devers as the most successful female athlete in World Championships history with five golds.

Devers finished second in the 100m hurdles earlier on Saturday, missing out on her chance for a sixth gold.

The winning time of 41.71 was the fastest of the year.

Victory for the US team, which consisted of Kelli White, Chryste Gaines, Inger Miller and Jones never seemed in doubt.

After the win, Jones said: "It is nice to get another gold but people forget this is a team effort and it is not just about me.

"Nobody could get us today - we were in control throughout the race.

"I am extremely pleased for the girls to win and I am happy it is all done and out of the way. Now it is time to relax."
