Korolchik recorded a national record 20.61 metres to win ahead of German Nadine Kleinert-Schmitt. The 24-year-old Belarussian came fourth at Seville in 1999 and is also a discus thrower with a personal best of 59.90m. Kleinert-Schmitt, the 1999 world silver medallist, threw a personal best of 19.86, while twice European champion Vita Pavlysh of Ukraine was third with 19.41m. | |
