| Nightmare in the rain In the latest of his BBC Sport Online Tour de France diaries, David Millar talks torrential rain and battery power. Still hanging in there - I've been given the new nickname Duracell! Yesterday's stage was hard, but I managed to come in with the grupetto. This morning the weather was awful - constant rain and a headwind. The knee was playing up a little so I strapped it up again. At least last night I had the first proper massage on my left leg. I'm still unable to stretch properly though.
The stage today was another nightmare. My knee held up and I ended up coming in with the peloton, but the weather gave us some serious punishment. Five and a half hours in torrential rain and wind at nine degrees, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse. Actually, I'm expecting things to get worse still. There was a big break today and the peloton just didn't respond, that suited me fine. I am absolutely knackered now. Too tired to say anything else. |
