Champion trainer Martin Pipe will saddle 10 of the 40 runners in Saturday's Grand National at Aintree.

With rain continuing to batter the Liverpool course, the going looks set to be heavy for the big race.

When final declarations were announced on Thursday for the 500,000 race, Pipe beat the old record of six runners, held by the now retired Jenny Pitman.

Pipe, winner in 1994 with Miinnehoma, finally learned which of the 10 runners his stable jockey Tony McCoy would partner.

McCoy walked the Aintree track and weighed up the wet weather before finally making up his mind - Blowing Wind was the surprise choice.

Top weight on Saturday will be shouldered by Beau.

Meanwhile Irish hope Papillon has been alternating as favourite at the 7-1 mark with Mely Moss, the horse he beat into second place 12 months ago.

Earthmover, trained by Paul Nicholls, is third top weight behind Beau and Papillon.
