UK Championship final: frame-by frame
UK Championship final between John Higgins and Mark Williams
John Higgins inflicts a 10-4 defeat on world number one Mark Williams in the final of the UK Championship. BBC Sport Online brings you the frame-by-frame scores.

Best of 19 (Williams score first):

1: 17-74 (Break 73 Higgins) 2: 0-131 (Higgins 131) 3: 73-0 (Williams 73) 4: 32-94 (Higgins 54) 5: 0-108 (Higgins 108) 6: 47-71 (Higgins 55) 7: 0-115 (Higgins 115) 8: 117-0 (Williams 117) 9: 0-80 (Higgins 43) 10: 15-67 (Higgins 40) 11: 0-105 (Higgins 76) 12: 75-13 (Williams 51) 13: 81-8 (Williams 51) 14: 16-76 (Higgins 44)

Frame-by-frame summary (latest frame first):

Frame 14: It is a case of missed chances for both players before Higgins eventually takes control. A break of 44 seals victory and gives the Scot the title.

Frame 13: Williams makes another break of 51 but accidentally pots a red after sinking the black. Higgins fails to capitalise, going in off to hand the initiative straight back to his opponent.

Frame 12: Williams finally gets amongst the balls and compiles a break of 51. The Welshman follows that up with a fine pot on a red into the centre pocket to reduce the deficit to six frames.

Frame 11: A great plant gives Higgins an early opportunity, from which he makes a break of 29. Williams then makes a hash of a thin cut on a red to give the Scot another chance, which he promptly takes. A break of 76 seals the frame.

Frame 10: Higgins takes an early lead with a break of 40 and then leaves Williams needing snookers with a fantastic pot on the 13th red. It proves too big a hurdle for the Welshman, who concedes the frame shortly afterwards.

Frame 9: Higgins makes 43 but has to play a safety shot after poor positioning. Williams misses a red into the right-centre to allow the Scot to wrap up the frame.

Frame 8: Williams pulls a frame back and deservedly so after an audacious pot for a red. Williams misses out on a 144 and a prize of 5,000 for the highest break of the tournament - but wins the frame.

Frame 7: Williams is unlucky to get a kick from the cue-ball and subesquently misses a red to allow Higgins in. Higgins produces some of the best snooker of the final so far to compile his third century break of the session.

Frame 6: Two fouls take place in the opening exchanges during a steady safety game. Williams grabs a 40 point advantage. Higgins comes back to make a 55 break and then misses a yellow to let the world number one back in. After a fascinating safety battle Higgins plays possibly the shot of the championship with a snooker from a snooker. Higgins takes the green and the frame.

Frame 5: Williams plays another optimsitic shot - but misses while trying to cut a red into the top left-hand corner. Higgins is allowed back in and does not look back going on to record a break of 108.

Frame 4: A tentative fourth frame sees both players play a safety game. Higgins lures Williams into attempting a long-distance red which the Welshman misses. Higgins compiles a break of 54 before making a mistake with his safety, but Williams fails to capitalise allowing the Scot to clear up for a two-frame advantage going into the mid-session interval.

Frame 3: Williams finds his form to take the third frame and reduce the deficit. Apart from one tricky blue into the top left-hand corner, the Welshman experiences few problems in making his 73 break.

Frame 2: Higgins takes advantage of an early error by Williams. The Scot faces a make-or-break shot which involves potting a double-red plant - which he manages successfully. The former world champion goes on to compile a total clearance of 131.

Frame 1: Mistakes in the opening exchanges by Williams and Higgins. Higgins takes control and is fortunate to get a nice break from the cluster of reds. The Scotsman does not make a mistake compiling a break of 73 to take the first frame.
