Brotherton's Tour moment
Armstrong and son
Lance Armstrong's baby son Luke was also on the race
France's big day was wrecked by a Spaniard, as Radio 5 Live's Simon Brotherton reports.

The moment of Friday's stage was unquestionably when Vicente Garcia Acosta attacked near the end which denied the French a home victory on Bastille Day.

Home riders Nicolas Jalabert and Pascal Herve must have fancied their chances on the road into Draguignan.

Yet they were outwitted by the Spaniard, who has now won a stage in the Tour de France to go with his Tour of Spain stage victory of three years ago.

For much of the day they were attacks, and in the closing stages the leading trio were clear and set to battle it out for the win.

With a few kilometres to go the Banesto rider attacked on an incline and the two Frenchmen couldn't go with him.

Four of the French teams had red, white and blue tyres specially made for the day to enter into the spirit of the 14th of July.

But Garcia Acosta gatecrashed their party.
