David Millar still hopes to make it all the way to Paris after surviving a potentially race threatening crash on the 12th stage of the Tour de France.

The Scot managed to remount and finish the stage at the top of Mont Ventoux in Provence, but he is not sure at what cost.

Millar, who held the yellow jersey for the first three days of the race, was thrown off his bicycle, landed on the wheel of the rider in front and suffered a painful gash on his neck.

"I was lucky," he said. "I'm not worried about the neck but my knee is troubling me. I just hope it will be ok."

He finally finished in 95th place, some 16 minutes and 32 seconds behind stage winner Marco Pantani of Italy.

That saw the 23-year-old, who rides for the French Cofidis team, slip to 48th place overall, nearly 30 minutes adrift of Tour leader Lance Armstrong.

The defending champion retained the yellow jersey after finishing second in the stage.
