Legends of The Open
Peter Thomson
Peter Thomson celebrates his fifth Open win in 1965
BBC Sport Online profiles the five players with the best record in golf's oldest tournament.

In the modern game, Tiger Woods would be considered by many as a "legend", but when it comes to becoming an "Open legend", he still has some way to go to catch up with the best.

Prestwick's 12-hole golf course was host to the first ever Open championship in 1860, when Willie Park of Musselburgh beat Tom Morris to win the first of his four titles.

In fact no less than 10 players have won the Championship four times or more in the tournament's history.
