Gallacher will start the final day on two under at St Andrews
Stephen Gallacher was the highest-placed Scot after the third round of the Open at St Andrews. Gallacher, who started the day on level par, shot four birdies and two double-bogeys to post a 70 and finish day three on two under. His fellow countrymen, Andrew Coltart and Colin Montgomerie, ended the day one over and three over respectively. Both shot 74, with Montgomerie's eagle and three birdies countered by two double-bogeys and three bogeys. Coltart was on course to finish level par until, like Montgomerie, he double-bogeyed the Road Hole 17th. Gallacher's highlights included birdies at the seventh, ninth, 11th and 12th holes.
