Casey won the World Match Play Championship at Wentworth in 2006 |
Paul Casey set up an all-English final with Ian Poulter after beating Camilio Villegas at the sixth extra hole in the WGC Accenture World Match Play. Casey was reprieved at the fifth hole of sudden death in gloomy light on Saturday evening when Villegas missed a three-foot putt for the match. The pair returned to the 10th hole at the Ritz-Carlton club in Arizona early on Sunday and Casey won with a par. The 36-hole final will take place later on Sunday. Villegas saw his hopes nosedive when he snap-hooked his drive. The Colombian hacked out of a bush in the desert back into the fairway and hit his third shot 30 feet past the flag. Casey, short of the green in two, chipped up to five feet and holed the putt. He was driven by buggy to the practice putting green and after a few minutes there it was time for the final to begin.
