Rose is searching for his first win on the PGA Tour |
Justin Rose lost his lead to Justin Leonard but remained in the hunt after round two of the Children's Miracle Network Classic in Florida. The Englishman carded 69 to join George McNeill (66) on 10 under as Leonard (64) forged two clear at Disney World. Rose's compatriot Greg Owen added a 71 to his opening 66 to end seven under in a tie for eighth at Lake Buena Vista. Former Open champion David Duval looks set to lose his PGA Tour card after missing the cut at five over. The former world number one began the week at 125th on the money list, the last spot to earn full status on Tour. He is projected to finish outside that mark, but will have conditional status because he is in the top 150, allowing him to enter about a dozen tournaments. The American, who will have to rely on sponsor exemptions for other appearances, won three straight PGA Tour events in 1997 and tied for second at the 1998 and 2001 Masters. He looked set for a career battle with Tiger Woods, now a 14-time major champion, but Duval suffered a huge slump after winning the Open at Royal Lytham in 2001 and took an extended break from the game. But he finished runner-up at the US Open this year and is guaranteed to play in the first three majors next year. He said he has already signed up for qualifying school. "It's not a position you want to be in," Duval said. "It's not fun, but really, I haven't been focusing on it a whole lot. He added: "I've played long enough, I'd like to think the relationships I've built up for 14, 15 years out here, that the events I go to year in and year out would show me a little love if I need it." Leonard was playing the Palm Course, while Rose and McNeill, who took on the Palm Course on Thursday, played the Magnolia Course at the Disney venue near Orlando.
