Dyson hopes to continue his fine recent form |
Dutch Open winner Simon Dyson fired a third-round 68 to move into a share of second place at the Mercedes Masters. England's Dyson moved into a group also containing Denmark's Soren Hansen and South African James Kingston on 10 under, one off Sweden's Peter Hanson. Hanson completed a five-under 67 in Cologne, but second-round leader Chris Wood and Ross Fisher fell away. Londoner Anthony Wall is fifth, one shot ahead of Scotland's Paul Lawrie, but Lee Westwood is six shots behind. It was also a poor day for Englishman Fisher, who finished with a 78 having started the day one off the lead on eight under. Fisher, with a chance to go third in the Tour money list, had a triple-bogey seven on the sixth, a double bogey at the short 16th and followed Wood into the water off the 18th tee. It was a better day for Dyson though, and he was delighted to have gained a share of second. "Confidence is amazing," said the 31-year-old from York. "When it's low you can't see yourself getting it, but when it's high you don't see it going away. | 606: DEBATE |
"I've probably not dedicated myself as well as I should have, but I'm really giving it everything now. "I want to be pitting my wits against the best players in the world. I was hoping I would be by now, but I've seen my mates playing them and I want to be there." If Hanson goes on to win he would keep the trophy in Swedish hands after the victories for Peter Hedblom in Scotland and Alex Noren in Switzerland.
