Murtagh won the County Championship trophy at the seventh attempt

An amateur golfer from Truro has become Cornwall's County Champion for the first time, seven years after his debut in the tournament.

Tom Murtagh won the title on Sunday at Mullion, beating last year's winner Jon Coleman 2&1.

Murtagh had to hold off a strong challenge from Coleman and only secured the trophy on the 35th hole.

In the A team event Truro were crowned champions following victory over Newquay in the final.
