Tunnicliff is seeking his first European Tour win since 2004 |
England's Miles Tunnicliff charged up the Malaysian Open leaderboard after firing the best score of the third round in Kuala Lumpur. He recorded nine birdies in his bogey-free round of 63 to move to move to 12 under and a share of fourth place. Tunnicliff, who has missed the cuts in all four previous European Tour starts this season, is just two behind new leader Adam Blyth of Australia. China's Wen-chong Liang and Swede Alexander Noren are second on 13 under. American Anthony Kang and Thailand's Prayad Marksaeng are tied with Tunnicliff on 12 under, one ahead of second-round leader and home favourite Danny Chia. Tunnicliff, chasing only his third win on the European Tour and first since the 2004 Diageo Championship at Gleneagles, said: "I enjoyed that. "It is the first time in a long time that it has come together so nicely. "I was struggling for the first three weeks of the year in the desert so I took a week's break in Dubai with the family and didn't touch a golf club. "I just chilled out and it seems to have worked because I came here a lot more excited about playing again."
