Garcia grew up playing on the course where the tournament is being played

Sergio Garcia showed good local knowledge as his six-under-par round of 65 gave him a share of the second round lead at the Castello Masters.

Garcia, who grew up playing the course and whose father is still the professional there, is tied on 11 under with Soren Kjeldsen and Richard Finch.

After a second-hole bogey, Garcia fired seven birdies, while Finch managed six successive birdies in his round of 66.

Five players, including Simon Dyson, share fourth place, two off the pace.

Finch and Kjeldsen could have shared the lead without Garcia had they not both bogeyed the 18th at the Club de Campo del Mediterraneo.

The group of five on nine under includes last week's Portugal Masters champion Alvaro Quiros and Frenchman Francois Delamontagne, who needs a good finish this weekend to retain his European Tour card for next season.

The shot of the day was by Colombia's Camilo Villegas, who carded a hole in one on the par-three 12th, to help him to a five-under-par round of 66 and finish the day six under.

"I said to him you're not supposed to do this on my home course," said Garcia.

"I was just joking, I was very happy for him. That was the hole where I got my first ever hole in one."
