Cheltenham golfer Charlotte Ellis is confident she will earn the chance to play in her first Women's British Open. The 22-year-old must finish in the top 18 in qualifying at The Berkshire to be eligible for the event at Sunningdale. Ellis told BBC Radio Gloucestershire she could do it after finishing five strokes clear in pre-qualifying. "It's the first time I've been able to enter. I've been pleased with my form and it's a chance to show what I can do," the Minchinhampton member said. Ellis added: "Going into pre-qualifying I didn't have any expectations. "I knew the course and went about it my usual way, playing one shot at a time. "I didn't realise how good a score it was until the end of the round."
