Ulster pair Paul Cutler and Darren Crowe are through to the third round of the North of Ireland Amateur Championship at Royal Portrush. Portstewart player Cutler beat Alan Daly 3&2 in Wednesday's second round while Crowe of Dunmurry won 4&3 against American Mark Gaynor. The leading qualifiers from the strokeplay rounds are all out. Jonathan Caldwell and Dara Lernihan were first-round casualties while Conor Doran was defeated in the second round. Clandeboye man Caldwell was beaten 2&1 by James Stevenson of the host club. Lernihan suffered a one hole defeat by Fergal Rafferty of Dungannon while Doran lost out 4&3 to Westport's Cahal O'Malley. Graeme McDowell's younger brother Gary is also out after losing 4&3 to Crowe in the first round.
