Derbyshire rookie Melissa Reid narrowly missed claiming her first Ladies European title at the ABN AMRO Ladies Open at Eindhovensche Golf in Holland. Reid, 20, whittled down playing partner Gwladys Nocera's four-strike overnight lead going into the 18th. And although Reid parred the final hole, the French woman managed a birdie to retain her title. Reid said: "I felt I gave a couple of shots away but Gwladys had a great birdie on the last. She won it." Reid came agonisingly close to securing the title but her 20-foot putt failed to drop and Nocera, two feet inside her opponent, holed for a 71 and a 13-under-par total. | I don't think Melissa did anything wrong. She shot four-under and she played really well |
But having carded a third successive 68 for her best finish in eight LET appearances, Reid was in upbeat mood. "I definitely feel I can win now," she said. "To be honest I didn't hit it as good today as I did yesterday but I'm still pretty satisfied." Nocera, who claimed her second title of the year after the Ladies Scottish Open five weeks ago, admitted she had not been on top form. "I just didn't play well; I had some really ugly shots," she said. "I missed some fairways and then I missed some greens. I had to fight to make pars and it was just not really nice golf. "I don't think Melissa did anything wrong. She shot four-under and she played really well."
