Gary McFarlane has been crowned Guernsey gold champion after beating Hampshire finalist Steve Mahy 7 and 5 at L'Ancresse.

McFarlane beat several players including Bobby Eggo and Mick Marley on his way to taking the title.

"Gary's performance has been marvellous over the whole championship," said Guernsey Golf Union President Alan Mahy.

McFarlane will now face the Jersey champion for the Channel island title.

McFarlane has been in great form recently after setting the course record at L'Ancresse earlier this month.
