Alex Mollin beat Elaine Pushman in Jersey's 36-hole JLGA Matchplay Championship final at La Moye.

In a storm-interrupted day, a far cry from the summery conditions of earlier in the week, she was five up after the first 18 holes.

Mollin, who now goes on to the Inter Island Final in Guernsey on June 15, then pushed home her advantage to easily win 8 and 7 on the 11th.

Mollin's victory makes up for last year, when she finished runner-up.

The tournament saw fine and sunny conditions in the first few days, followed by rain and storms in the latter - and the competitors really had to hold their concentration.

JLGA President Cassandra Holderness said: "The tournament was very much dominated by the weather.

"But I think they all enjoyed it enormously. There were new winners in every division, which is always a healthy sign."

In Division II it took Liz Shanks until the 19th hole to defeat Judy Dove while Rachel Andrews beat Julia Pascoe by three holes in the Division III title.
