Annika Sorenstam turns pro in 1994 and quickly wins the US Women's Open in 1995 and 1996. Sorenstam and Tiger Woods team up to win the Battle at Big Horn against David Duval and Karrie Webb in 2001. The Swede proudly holds her scorecard after shooting a 13-under-par 59 in Arizona in March 2001. Sorenstam leaps into the water after winning the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2001. She repeats the stunt in 2002 and 2005. The emotions get to Sorenstam in 2003 when she misses the cut after becoming the first woman to play in a male event for 58 years. Sorenstam wins the first of three successive LPGA Championships in 2003. She also wins the Women's British Open at Royal Lytham & St Anne's during a succesful 2003. Sorenstam gets a cake for passing the 50 mark of LPGA titles in 2004 and ends with a total of 72. June 2005 sees Sorenstam claim her third LPGA Championship in a row as she continues to add to her majors haul. She wins eight player of the year awards. The last was in 2005 and here she celebrates her win with fiance Mike McGee. Sorenstam on her way to winning the US Women's Open in 2006 after a play-off, the last of her 10 major successes. She tells the world she is to retire at the end of the 2008 season and bring the curtain down on her illustrious career. Sorenstam loses her world number one spot to Mexico's Lorena Ochoa in 2007 but the Swede wins four events in 2008. Sorenstam makes her final appearance in an LPGA event at the ADT Championship in Florida. The Swede, 38, salutes the Florida crowd after she fails to make the cut at the LPGA season-ending event. But Sorenstam's sister Charlotta, herself a former Solheim Cup player, ensures her sibling has another champagne moment In her final event, the Dubai Ladies Masters, Sorenstam fittingly sinks a birdie putt on the 18th in her last round But there is no fairytale finish and the 38-year-old has to settle for a seventh-place finish as she waves goodbye to professional golf
