Lee Westwood hopes to recapture his stunning form of a year ago when he tees off in Spain to defend his Andalucia Open title on Thursday.

The Worksop star said: "I have a lot of good memories from last year and am hoping to carry that on this year.

"The course is in good condition, the fairways are immaculate, the greens are good, so I'm looking forward to it."

Westwood's success in last year's event saw him secure his first Tour victory since 2003.

And, having gone on to win again at The Belfry in the Quinn Direct British Masters in September, he has started this year well too.

I'm playing pretty good but there are a few places in my game that need some fine-tuning

Already he has had four Top 10 finishes in the six events he has played, to go top of Europe's Ryder Cup rankings.

Westwood finished with a four-under 68 at Doral on Sunday to end up a creditable 34th in the WGC.

But he knows there is room for improvement ahead of next month's return trip to the States, for the Masters at Augusta - the first Major of the year.

"I'm playing pretty good," he added. "But there are a few places in my game that need some fine-tuning and lifting."
