Ian Woosnam will help Bill Longmuir celebrate his Barbados Open win |
Bill Longmuir will toast his Barbados Open win on big pal Ian Woosnam's boat. A birdie blitz inspired the Scot to his first victory for seven months at Royal Westmoreland while Woosnam was fifth in his European Seniors Tour debut.
Longmuir said: "I'm not flying home until Tuesday so I'm sure there will be a few drinks sunk between now and then.
"Hopefully Woosie will join me, I'm sure he won't need much persuading," added Longmuir who saw off English pair Bob Cameron and Nick Job.
Longmuir was six shots off the lead after the first day but he made seven birdies, including five in a row from the 13th hole, in his final round to win by three shots.
Former world number one Woosnam, Europe's victorious 2006 Ryder Cup captain, finished on four-under.
The Welshman was six shots off leader Longmuir and one shot behind joint overnight leader Delroy Cambridge of Jamaica.
Woosnam owns a home and has a catamaran moored on the Caribbean island and he was the first to congratulate Longmuir, who automatically shot to the top of the Order of Merit with his seventh Seniors Tour victory of his career.
