Woosnam's last win came in the World Match Play at Wentworth in 2001 |
Ian Woosnam will miss next week's Wales Open as he is still suffering from post-viral fatigue syndrome. The illness also forced the 49-year-old Welshman to miss the Masters and this week's PGA Championship, and he has not completed an event all year
"I can't walk properly and you can't play if you can't walk," said Woosnam, who has been complaining of leg cramps.
"I just can't get rid of it - it's been a long time now. Just walking to the practice ground I'm tired."
Woosnam, who guided Europe to victory in the 2006 Ryder Cup, last tasted victory in 2001, when he won the World Match Play.
He decided not to go to the Italian Open as planned, then pulled out of the
Irish Open after an opening 77 and this week withdrew from the PGA Championship before the start.
