Montgomerie and Faldo now appear to see eye-to-eye |
Former European number one Colin Montgomerie has healed his rift with Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo. The Scot was criticised by Faldo for being difficult at this year's Seve Trophy event in Ireland.
"I've spoken to Nick and it's fine. It doesn't concern me. Nick is his own man. He's very individual," he said.
Montgomerie admitted, however, that he may struggle to qualify for the team for next year's Ryder Cup and may have to rely on being one of Faldo's picks.
The biennial competition will take place in Valhalla, Louisville from 16-21 September and although Montgomerie has an impressive Ryder Cup record, he is philosophical about his involvement.

"I wouldn't lose any sleep over it [if I missed out], I'd just make sure I qualified in 2010," he commented.
"It's just one of these things. I'm nowhere near it now because I made a particularly poor start to the qualifying situation, but I know if I play well in 2008 I'll qualify."
Montgomerie is currently in the USA to take part in the Target World Challenge in California, which is being hosted by world number one Tiger Woods.
