Rory McIlroy has made a good start in the Mastercard Masters in Melbourne after firing a two-under-par 70 in Thursday's first round. The Holywood teenager birdied the fifth, seventh and eighth holes before dropping a shot on the ninth.
Nine pars followed to leave McIlroy in a tie for 10th and just three shots behind leader Robert Allenby.
Damien McGrane is the only other Irish competitor in the field and he opened with a 72.
