A four-over-par 76 in the foursomes has left Bradley Dredge and Stephen Dodd, who were second after round one, nine shots behind leaders America.
Three consecutive bogeys from the first meant the Welsh pair were facing an uphill task.
A further three shots were dropped before an eagle and a birdie on final holes repaired some of the damage.

The United States maintained their slender lead by adding a second round 69 to their opening score of 61 for a 14 under par total.

They are joined by Scotland's Colin Montgomerie and Marc Warren in second place after they also carded a four-under-par round of 68.
