US close in on Presidents Cup win
Toms and Woods celebrate
Toms and Woods covered their 15 holes in nine under par
Tiger Woods and David Toms beat Nick O'Hern and Geoff Ogilvy 5&3 in Saturday's fourballs to give the USA a commanding lead in the Presidents Cup.

After a foursomes clean sweep, the Americans ended day three in Montreal 14-7 ahead of the Internationals.

With 12 points available in Sunday's singles, the US need only three more to claim the trophy for a fifth time.

"They are looking very good and we will have to pull a rabbit out of the hat," said International captain Gary Player.

606: DEBATE

Woods chipped in from 30 feet at the par-four eighth to put the US three up against Australians O'Hern and Ogilvy in a match they controlled from the start.

Dovetailing superbly, the Americans covered their 15 holes in nine under par, Woods sealing victory by holing a 24-foot birdie putt.

Stewart Cink and Jim Furyk came from two down to beat Angel Cabrera of Argentina and South Korean KJ Choi one up in the first match out.

Phil Mickelson and Woody Austin gave the home team extra cheer with a birdie-birdie finish to halve their match against South African Retief Goosen and Australia's Adam Scott.

Canada's Mike Weir and South African Ernie Els claimed the first point of the afternoon for the Internationals with a 4&2 victory over Charles Howell III and Lucas Glover.

The US had strengthened their hold on the trophy by sweeping Saturday morning's foursomes 5-0 to forge 12-5 ahead.

Mickelson and Austin set the tone, crushing Goosen and Appleby 5&4 before the Americans completed the fourth sweep in the event's history.

"It's pretty unbelievable, really, and not what I would have expected," US captain Jack Nicklaus said.
