Becky Brewerton has missed the cut at Machynys Golf Club

Her hopes of a place in the European Solheim Cup team hang in the balance after missing the cut at the Wales Ladies Championship of Europe.

Wales' Brewerton shot a second round 74 and is six over par overall at Machynys Golf Club.

"I have never played this many events in a year," she said. "This is the most we've ever had and it's taking its toll at the moment."

Last month Brewerton won her first tournament at the English Open at Cart Hills, but she said now is the time for a rest.

"My season has been fantastic up to the last couple of weeks," she said. "I've had my first win and lots of top tens, so on the whole it's been fantastic."

But on her current form, she added: "I haven't been playing that well. I'm looking forward to a rest after this tournament because I am physically and mentally tired.

"You've got to try and balance out your weeks and the last few tournaments I probably did too much practice after I've played.

"So it's difficult because I've not actually been in this situation before or played so many events and you�ve really got to pace yourself over the weeks."

England's Rebecca Hudson carded an impressive seven-under-par 65 to take an early lead on day two.

The 28-year-old's round included eight birdies and one bogey as she moved to nine-under-par for the tournament, three shots clear of Korean teenager Amy Yang.
