Howell won the Dubai Desert Classic eight years ago |
Englishman David Howell believes he has the experience to end Tiger Woods' winning streak at the Dubai Desert Classic, starting Thursday. Howell outscored Woods to win the HSBC Champions Trophy in November 2005 and is hoping for a repeat this week.
"A lot of things have to go your way," Howell said of defending champion Woods, who claimed his seventh straight PGA Tour title in San Diego on Sunday.
"But first, you have to play well on the Sunday when the pressure is on."

Woods overturned a two-stroke deficit at the Buick Invitational on Sunday to claim the second-longest winning streak in PGA history behind Byron Nelson, who holds the record with 11 straight wins. But the American star is back on the European Tour to defend his title in Dubai this week, after defeating Ernie Els in a play-off last year.
"If you are going to stand up in a tournament against Tiger on the final day you have to keep control of your own emotions, play as well as you can and hope he doesn't have a great day," added Howell.
"You have to try and keep the pressure on and when I played him he probably figured that I wasn't going to drop too many shots coming in and he was going to have to attack me.
"The difficulty comes when Tiger is in front and he never seems to make a mistake, so you have to go at it."
Howell, who won the Desert Classic eight years ago, is set to make his playing return after a six-week break recovering from a back injury.
