Swedish duo Edfors (left) and Stenson won a point for Europe |
Europe's dominance over Asia continued on the second day of the Royal Trophy in Bangkok as they moved even further ahead following the fourballs. Asia failed to win any of Saturday's match-ups and Seve Ballesteros' team lead 6-1 going into Sunday's singles.
Asia did manage to halve two matches to prevent Europe from repeating their points tally from the first day.
Europe now need just a win and a draw from the eight singles matches to retain the trophy.
The Asians put in an improved performance on the second day, with Thai pair Thongchai Jaidee and Prom Meesawat sharing the spoils with Darren Clarke and Lee Westwood.
Clarke and Westwood looked to be cruising at one stage, leading by two holes at the turn.
But Meesawat hauled himself and Jaidee level with a birdie at 11 and a 12-foot putt at the 15th.
Swedish duo Niclas Fasth and Robert Karlsson halved with Jeev Milkha Singh and SK Ho after Karlsson put his tee-shot at the 17th to within three inches of the cup to level matters.
But another Swedish duo Johan Edfors and Henrik Stenson beat YE Yang and Toru Taniguchi 2&1.
And Tetsuji Hiratsuka and Thaworn Wiratchant gave up a three-hole lead to lose to Anthony Wall and Paul McGinley one-up.
