Darren Clarke finished on four over par after a 75 in the final round of the Taiheiyo Masters in Japan. Clarke, who had won the tournament in the previous two years, was 16 shots behind winner Tommy Nakajima.
The veteran Japanese player, ranked 581 in the world, carded a seven-under-par final round of 65 to reach 12 under and beat compatriot Toru Taniguchi by one.
Sergio Garcia's slump continued as he had a disastrous five-over-par 77 which saw him take 42 for the front nine.
The back nine improved slightly with two birdies and only one dropped shot but he finished way off the pace on four under.
