Montgomerie is desperate to win before the year is out |
Colin Montgomerie says he is determined to maintain his record of at least one title a year before the end of 2006. The Scot had another fine Ryder Cup but finished only ninth in this season's Order of Merit on the European Tour.
"It has been a poor season," admitted the 43-year-old. "I am desperate to win as I have never gone a calendar year without winning a title.
"I have six or seven events left and I intend to keep that run going with a victory in one of them."
Montgomerie will begin his quest at the HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, beginning on 9 November.
The tournament marks the start of the 2006-07 European campaign and has attracted a strong field including world number one Tiger Woods, second-ranked Jim Furyk and Order of Merit winner Padraig Harrington.
