Big guns sign up for China event
David Howell and Tiger Woods
England's Howell was a worthy winner over Woods last year
Thomas Bjorn and Henrik Stenson are the latest star players to commit to the HSBC Champions event next month.

Stenson, who holed the winning putt at the Ryder Cup, will join five of his European team-mates in Shanghai.

The other European stars present are David Howell - the defending champion - Paul Casey, Colin Montgomerie, Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington.

The field also includes world number one Tiger Woods, second-ranked Jim Furyk and number seven Retief Goosen.

England's Howell won the title last November by outscoring playing partner Woods on the final day.

The 30-year-old American superstar, though, is aiming for revenge.

"It is a title I really want to win especially after chasing David so hard last year and coming so close," said Woods.

"I had a lot of fun last year. All the players appreciated the fantastic reception from the Chinese golf fans and the atmosphere was amazing all week."

Play starts at the Sheshan International Golf Club on 9 November.

The tournament, which marks the launch of the 2007 European Tour season, is co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour, the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Sunshine Tour and the China Golf Association. The total purse of 2.7m is the largest in Asia.
