Furyk is in good form ahead of the Ryder Cup

Jim Furyk edged to a narrow victory in the Canadian Open as Britain's Justin Rose faded badly in the final round.

Rose began the day leading by a shot, but three bogeys and a double bogey saw him finish well behind on seven-under.

Furyk, who led after the first round, shot six birdies in a five-under par 65 to end on 14-under and win by a shot from US compatriot Bart Bryant (67).

Another American, Sean O'Hair, was a stroke further back. Britain's Brian Davies finished in 29th on three-under.

"It's been a good solid year, only the second season where I've had multiple wins," said Furyk.

"I keep going back and comparing this to 2003 where I had a breakout year and won the US Open.

With Furyk already in the clubhouse, Bryant made a back-nine charge with three birdies, rolling in a 15-foot putt on 17 to get within one of the lead.

But Bryant was unable to get the birdie he needed at the last to force a play-off.
