Woosnam must name his final European team on 3 September |
European Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam wants Paul McGinley, Sergio Garcia and Luke Donald to improve their form - and their chances of a place in his team. Cup stalwarts McGinley and Garcia are clinging on to their places among the 10 automatic qualifiers while Donald has fallen out of the top 10.
Woosnam said: "Garcia, McGinley and Donald are struggling.
"It would be nice for Garcia and Donald to play a few tournaments over here to get world ranking points," he said.
"They may only have the Open and USPGA Championship to get the points."
Spaniard Garcia and England's Donald play most of their golf on the USPGA Tour and Woosnam has already warned players he will favour those who attempt to qualify in Europe when it comes to wildcards.

Donald and Garcia have both entered next week's Scottish Open at Loch Lomond and this month's Open at Hoylake.
Donald has also committed to a number of other European events.
McGinley has struggled to find his form because of a knee injury but Woosnam has offered him some encouragement ahead of this week's European Open at the K Club, the venue for September's Ryder Cup.
"I think I'll put my arm around his shoulder and just tell him the game of golf can change in one week," said Woosnam.
"If he wins this week we won't be talking about it again."
Places for Europe's 12-man team come via the top five on a world points table and the top five in the European list, excluding those already in via the world list, and two captain's picks.
Ireland's Padraig Harrington was in buoyant mood after improving his position in the Ryder Cup table to sixth by finishing second in last week's French Open.
"I'm quite confident I'm going to make the team from where I am now," said Harrington.
"I never wanted to be left in the position of having to be picked."
