England's Justin Rose was among a host of players stalking clubhouse leader Rich Beem when a storm stopped play in the third round of the Funai Classic.

An eight-under-par round of 64 saw Rose move into contention, finishing two shots adrift of Beem, who shot a 63.

The 2002 PGA champion's 19-under total gave him a one-stroke lead over Mark Wilson (63) and Mark Calcavecchia (65).

Four others a shot back, Tim Clark, Carl Pettersson, Tom Pernice and Geoff Ogilvy, have yet to finish their round.

There were 25 players in all still on the course when a late afternoon thunderstorm ended play for the day.

The third round will resume on Sunday, with the final round to follow.

Pettersson was the half-way leader, completing an 11-under 61 on Saturday morning for a two-stroke lead over Pernice after two rounds.

But Tiger Woods failed to make the cut for only the fourth time in his career.

Greg Owen also took the opportunity to make up ground with a second straight 66.

The Englishman is four shots behind current leader Beem heading into the final round.
