Nick Faldo says he is stunned he has not been officially asked if he is interested in captaining Europe at the 2006 Ryder Cup in Ireland. "It's quite amazing that they have never called me in to sit with the committee and asked 'what are your plans?'" said the Englishman.
Officials will meet on Tuesday to decide who should lead the side at the K Club on the outskirts of Dublin.
Ian Woosnam is favourite to land the role vacated by German Bernhard Langer.
But Faldo has good claims and could be asked to skipper the Europeans in 2008 if he misses out.
The three-time Masters champion, who will be 51 in 2008, would not be unhappy with that arrangement.
"If that's what they want then okay," he said. "But if it's going to be that then I want you (the media) told. I want it all square and above board."
Europe are the holders of the Ryder Cup after beating the United States 18.5-9.5 at Oakland Hills in September.
