Woosnam keen on fourballs start
Europe captain Ian Woosnam eyes the Ryder Cup
Europe have won the last two Ryder Cups
European Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam wants to start the 2006 Ryder Cup in Ireland with the fourballs.

Europe made a flying start in the fourballs in the 2004 event and Woosnam will tell American captain Tom Lehman of his preference next week.

After taking a 3-1 lead in the fourballs last year Europe went on to record a crushing victory.

"I'll most probably start with fourballs and hope we can perform like we did last time," said Woosnam.

"Once you're ahead the other team's always trying to catch up."

Woosnam will meet up with Lehman at the K Club, where the 2006 Ryder Cup will be played.

The 47-year-old Welshman also revealed he will be selecting his vice-captains next week, with Ireland's Des Smyth tipped to be one of them.
