Focused Tiger sets pace in Japan
Tiger Woods
Woods has not won a stroke-play tournament in 2004
Tiger Woods shot a five-under-par 65 to lead by three strokes after day one of the Dunlop Phoenix in Miyazaki, Japan.

In persistent rain, Germany's Alex Cejka and Open champion Todd Hamilton carded 73s while defending champion Thomas Bjorn of Denmark fired a 75.

"I don't remember leading after the first round of any tournament this year," said a satisfied Woods.

"Any time you can play this course without a bogey it's a good day, especially in these conditions."

The last stroke-play tournament Woods won was the Western Open in July 2003.

Woods, who lost his number one ranking to Vijay Singh this year, is also looking for his first win in Japan.
