Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke broke the course record on his way to victory in the Taiheiyo Masters in Japan. Clarke was 22 under for the tournament after a final round of 68 which left him six shots ahead of Britain's Lee Westwood and Japan's Nozomi Kawahara.
His total was four strokes better than the previous course mark held jointly by Jose-Maria Olazabal, Masashi Ozaki and Toshimitsu Izawa.
Graeme McDowell of Northern Ireland was tied for sixth with two other players.
Clarke, who led from start to finish, got off to a slow start on the final day with a bogey on the second hole.
But the 36-year-old soon recovered his form to sink five birdies on the third, fifth, sixth, 11th and 18th.
It was Clarke's fourth appearance in the $1.4m event here and the first since his runner-up finish in 1999 when he lost to Japan's Hirofumi Miyase in a play-off.
It was also his second title on the Japan tour, following his victory at the Chunichi Crowns in 2001, giving him a winner's cheque for $280,000.
