Darren Clarke fired a second-round 65 to lead the Taiheiyo Masters by two from Shingo Katayama in Japan. The Ulsterman reached 13 under courtesy of two eagles and three birdies as local favourite Katayama also carded 65 in the shadow of Mount Fuji. Clarke's Ryder Cup team-mate Lee Westwood shot 69 to be tied sixth on seven under. Northern Ireland's Graeme McDowell is one shot further back after a second successive 69.
