Tiger Woods shot a five under par 65 to be tied for the lead after the third round at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia.

Woods recovered from a bogey at the first to shoot a flawless round after that including six birdies.

He shares the lead with halfway leader Jay Haas who had two bogeys in the first three holes but came back with four birdies over the last 10.

The pair are four shots ahead of Mike Weir, Retief Goosen and Stephen Ames.

Woods is seeking his first win since his success at the Match Play Championship in February while his last victory in a stroke play tournament was more than a year ago.

US Open champion Retief Goosen, who was playing with Woods, managed four straight birdies to take the outright lead during the round.

But he failed to save par from two bunkers on the back nine and finished on 69.

World number one Vijay Singh, the world's top-ranked player, saw his quest for a 10th victory of the year all but come to an end after he shot a 70 to lie on two over.

First-round leader Darren Clarke continued to slip down the field and is nine shots behind the leading duo after firing a 70.

And Padraig Harrington is two shots further behind after hitting a 68.
