Scotland's Stuart Wilson celebrated his 27th birthday by winning the Silver Medal for finishing as the top amateur at the 133rd Open at Royal Troon. The Forfar-based Wilson was the only amateur to make the cut and can also look forward to a place at the Masters.
The British Amateur champion carded a 76 on Sunday to finish on 12 over.
"I've got to be delighted," Wilson told BBC Sport. "It's a special honour to pick up the Silver Medal, and it's what I came here to achieve.
"Thursday was a great day for me, when I shot a low score (68).
"It was a little difficult to keep going, being the only amateur in the field over the weekend, but still a great experience."
Fellow Scot Alastair Forsyth can also be pleased with his efforts. His final-round 70 lifted him to seven over. Sandy Lyle, however, finished in last place on 19 over.
