Price is well placed to make the weekend at Shinnecock Hills |
Phillip Price made a solid start to his second ever appearance in a US Open when he posted a level-par 70 at Shinnecock Hills on Thursday. The 37-year-old Welshman carded two birdies and two bogeys on the tough links-style course near New York.
Price was a little wayward with his driving, hitting only seven of 14 fairways, but got himself out of trouble with some accurate iron play.
Price outscored his playing partner David Duval by 13 strokes.
"I was tidy and kept out of trouble," said Price. "This course is perfect for me. It's not about power."
