World number one Tiger Woods had a disappointing 75 as Arron Oberholser took the lead going into the final round of the Wachovia Championship. Woods, who started the day leading by two shots, had five bogeys and a double bogey to end up on six under.
He is five shots behind Oberholser who three-putted at the last for a four-under-par 68 to lead by one shot.
Geoff Ogilvy and Notah Begay are on 10 under and Vijay Singh is four shots off the lead after a 71.
US Masters champion Phil Mickelson carded a 72 and is on four under while Britain's Luke Donald is one shot further back.
Woods started badly with a bogey at the first and had two more before the turn although he rallied with birdies at the 14th and 15th.
However the charge was only brief and Woods had another bogey at the 16th before putting his tee shot in the water at the par-three 17th which led to a double bogey five.
"I had two-way misses off the tee," said Woods. "If I tried to hit it left, I'd hook it further left or hang it to the right. If I tried to go right, I'd slice it further right or leave it left.
"It was a tough day. I didn't have it at all, I could not get comfortable over any shot. On a course this demanding, that's bad."
Oberholser, who is playing in only his second year on the PGA Tour, started the day two shots behind Woods and played the front nine in even par.
The 29-year-old eagled the par-five 10th and then claimed three birdies in the next five holes.
"I'm not used to this humidity, especially growing up in San Francisco," he said. "I was struggling on a few holes. My blood sugar was so low I almost passed out."
