Haas/DiMarco v Garcia/Westwood
(Match halved) Sergio Garcia and Lee Westwood rescued a half point for Europe as they held Americans Jay Haas and Chris DiMarco in the Ryder Cup fourballs. The home pair, who claimed the USA's only victory on Friday, were two ahead after six thanks to successive birdies.
Spaniard Garcia hit back with threes at the par-four seventh and 11th to draw level, although a short missed putt to take the 17th proved costly.
He holed from an unlikely spot on the last green, but it only earned a bogey.
Garcia 's 70-footer, with 25 feet of borrow, left Westwood free rein to go for victory but he missed from nine feet.
The Europeans, who won twice on the opening day, were upbeat despite having to settle for a half. Englishman Westwood said: "We feel we had our chances out there. It was a great match, and we did well to fight back, but missed too many putts."
Spaniard Garcia added: "We knew it was key and tried our utmost. I think we played great coming in."
